Designed as interactive training, this program encourages participants to discuss their vulnerabilities to threats and their own organization’s Health and Safety capabilities, experiences and preparedness.

Agenda

  • Define the nature and impact of active shooter incidents as they have occurred in office, plant, school, healthcare and public settings.
  • Analyze selected "active shooter" cases and recognize indicators to identify the potential active shooter.
  • Discuss benchmarking best practices and Department of Homeland Security/OSHA/MIOSHA guidelines.
  • Outline employee “survival mentality” strategies for responding during active shooter/intruder situations.
  • Define respective roles of Human Resources, Health and Safety, facilities and operations, security personnel and law enforcement.
  • Review functions of an organization’s Workplace Violence Prevention Team and how to enhance the Health and Safety Program to meet this increasing threat.
  • Demonstrate key issues through video tapes of actual active shooter incidents.

Expert Presenters

Dr. Kenneth L. Wolf consults on threat management, critical incident stress management and crisis response strategies. He is a fully licensed clinical psychologist and is the Managing Partner of Incident Management Team, an international crisis management, security and violence prevention consulting company. Dr. Wolf has assisted with numerous bombing attacks and air disasters in his 35-plus year career.

Marilyn Knight, M.S.W., is the President/CEO of Incident Management Team. As a lecturer and trainer in the areas of workplace violence prevention, crisis response and organizational change, she has presented at over 400 conferences and seminars in North America, South America, Europe, Hong Kong, China, and Asia.
